Curriculum Intent:
“Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” – Michael Jordan
At Keinton Mandeville Primary School, our Physical Education curriculum is designed to inspire a lifelong love of movement and sport. We aim to provide enjoyable, inclusive experiences that promote health, fitness, and overall wellbeing. Through a broad range of activities, children develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to participate, succeed, and excel in physical pursuits.
Our high-quality teaching and learning opportunities encourage every child to achieve their personal best. We offer chances to compete in sport and other activities, fostering resilience, teamwork, and values such as fairness and respect. Competitive opportunities are provided through the Ansford Learning Partnership and beyond.
To enhance our provision, sports coaches from TLE support staff CPD and enrich PE sessions, ensuring pupils benefit from expert guidance and varied experiences.
We strive for all pupils to be physically active for sustained periods and to make informed choices that lead to healthy, active lifestyles. Swimming is recognised as a vital life skill, and we aspire for every child to leave primary school able to swim at least 25 metres.
The National Curriculum for PE ensures that all pupils:
- Develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
- Are physically active for sustained periods of time
- Engage in competitive sports and activities
- Lead healthy, active lives
