Relationships & Health Education

RHE Curriculum Intent

At Keinton Mandeville Primary School, we teach Relationships and Health Education (RSE) as part of our wider commitment to preparing children for life. RHE helps children develop the knowledge and skills they need to form healthy, respectful relationships and to understand the changes that occur as they grow.

Our approach to RHE:

  • Is age-appropriate, ensuring children learn in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Focuses on respect, consent, and responsibility, helping children understand the importance of kindness and equality.
  • Includes learning about physical and emotional changes, preparing children for puberty and later life.
  • Encourages open dialogue, so children feel confident to ask questions and seek help when needed.

We work closely with parents and carers, sharing resources and offering opportunities for discussion before sensitive topics are taught. Our aim is to ensure that RSE supports children’s wellbeing and complements the values taught at home.

This policy and curriculum statement were developed in response to changes in statutory requirements for Relationships and Health Education (2020).  A parent consultation exercise has been completed, before the documents were finalised.  Please see the policy and the curriculum statement using the links below:
